Hole geometry, needle lift and seat condition determine droplet size and penetration, and therefore how completely the charge burns. A seat that no longer seals will weep, producing carbon, poor starting and smoke even when the rest of the injector tests acceptably. Typical indicators are visible smoke particularly at idle or under light load, hard starting, uneven running, increased consumption and coked deposits on the nozzle tip or in the injector bore. Have spray pattern and opening behaviour tested on a bench where possible. Combined with a leak-off comparison across the set, that separates a genuine nozzle fault from compression or timing problems. Fit new sealing washers every time, clean the seat without scoring it, and torque to the manufacturer’s figure. If the engine management stores injector codes, they need to be programmed once you are done. Our rebuild standard: strip to components, clean, measure against wear limits, replace what is worn, machine back to specification where required, then calibrate and bench-test every unit. Delivery, return flow, opening pressure and leakage are recorded, and units outside specification are not dispatched. Test sheets available on request, and every unit carries a 12-month warranty.
