Fuel is delivered to this injector already pressurised by the rail. What it contributes is timing and atomisation — opening and closing within milliseconds, several times per combustion event on modern engines. Small changes in spray pattern or opening behaviour show up quickly as noise, smoke and rising consumption. Common indicators are rough or unstable idle, smoke that was not there before, higher fuel consumption on the same duty cycle, diesel knock under load, and in some cases fuel dilution of the engine oil from an injector that is leaking internally. It costs little to confirm the diagnosis first. Compare return flow between cylinders and cut each injector in turn on a scan tool; if one cylinder makes no difference to running quality, that is your culprit. Fit as a matched set rather than singly — one new injector among worn neighbours reproduces the uneven running you set out to cure. New sealing washers every time, clean seats, correct torque, and where applicable, program the injector codes into the ECU once fitted. How we build it: the unit is fully disassembled, cleaned and measured, not simply resealed. Wear items — seals, springs, and where clearance is out of specification the plunger and barrel or nozzle assemblies — are replaced rather than reused. Sealing faces and bores are re-machined back to original clearances, then the unit is calibrated and run on a bench with delivery, return flow, opening pressure and leakage recorded.
