Fuel is delivered to this injector already pressurised by the rail. What it contributes is timing and atomisation — opening and closing within milliseconds, several times per combustion event on modern engines. Small changes in spray pattern or opening behaviour show up quickly as noise, smoke and rising consumption. Watch for hard hot starting, uneven idle, visible smoke, a misfire that clears when the engine is revved, and consumption creeping up without any change in operating conditions. A back-leakage comparison across the set is the cheapest meaningful test: uneven return between cylinders points at the failing unit. Follow it with a cut-out test to confirm which cylinder actually stops contributing. Fitting notes: replace as a set rather than singly. A lone new injector will deliver differently from the worn ones around it, which usually reproduces the rough running. Use new sealing washers every time, clean the injector bore and seat carefully, and check whether your engine management expects classification codes to be entered after installation.
