About this part

510-1695 is supplied as a remanufactured replacement injector. Cross-reference numbers: 510-1695, 617-1905, 5101695, 6171905. Application recorded for this part: Fits Caterpillar — CAT9.3 617-1905(5101695 6171905). In a common rail system the injector is the component that actually controls combustion. It holds back fuel at rail pressure and lifts for only a few milliseconds at a time, metering the exact quantity and breaking it into a fine spray so the charge ignites cleanly. When delivery drifts, the engine does not usually stop — it simply starts to burn fuel badly. Common indicators are rough or unstable idle, smoke that was not there before, higher fuel consumption on the same duty cycle, diesel knock under load, and in some cases fuel dilution of the engine oil from an injector that is leaking internally. A back-leakage comparison across the set is the cheapest meaningful test: uneven return between cylinders points at the failing unit. Follow it with a cut-out test to confirm which cylinder actually stops contributing. Fitment notes: injectors on the same engine wear together. Replacing only the failed unit often leaves the others close behind, and a single new injector reading differently from its neighbours will cause exactly the rough running you were trying to fix. Replacing as a matched set avoids that. Always fit new copper sealing washers and seals — used washers rarely seal a second time — and where the system requires injector classification or IQA codes, have them programmed to the ECU after fitting. What we do differently: every core is stripped to components, inspected against wear limits and measured before anything is reused. Worn parts are replaced, not cleaned and refitted. After reassembly the unit is bench-tested — delivery, return flow, opening pressure and leakage — and only units inside specification are dispatched. We can send the test sheet for your order before it leaves. Every remanufactured unit carries a 12-month warranty.
