22100-1C380 is supplied as a remanufactured replacement high pressure pump. Cross-reference numbers: 22100-1C380, 196000-4171, HZJ78, HZJ79. Application recorded for this part: 1HZ. This unit sets both quantity and timing for every cylinder. Modern engines depend on that timing being accurate to well under a degree, so internal wear that would once have been tolerated now shows up as smoke, noise and failed emissions checks. Symptoms associated with pump wear include hard starting when hot, loss of power, unstable idle, excess smoke, timing that will not hold, and in some cases diesel getting into the lubricating oil via a leaking drive shaft seal. Diagnose the supply side before blaming the pump. Restricted filters, a tired lift pump or air being drawn into the suction line will produce symptoms almost identical to internal pump wear, and are far cheaper to resolve. Set timing to the engine’s marks and never lever the pump into place — bar the engine over instead. Prime thoroughly, use a new mounting seal, verify lift pump supply pressure, and bleed before starting. A dry start is the fastest way to ruin a sound pump. Rebuild process: full teardown and measurement first, then replacement of all wear components, machining back to specification where required, followed by calibration and bench testing. The difference between this and a cleaned used part is the measurement and test record — we hold every unit to the specification for the part number, not just to 'it runs'. Test sheets available on request, and every unit ships with a 12-month warranty.
