Every injection event depends on this pump producing pressure at exactly the right moment. Because it also carries its own lubrication, poor supply pressure and fuel dilution do disproportionate damage — which is why the supply side should always be checked alongside the pump itself. Typical indicators are progressively harder starting, particularly when hot, reduced power, smoke under load, erratic idle, and fuel dilution in the sump — the last one should always be investigated immediately. Confirm you actually need a pump. Verify supply pressure at the inlet, check for air ingress and restrictions, and have delivery and timing tested on the bench — many 'worn pumps' turn out to be supply faults. Key points: align to the timing marks rather than forcing the drive, prime before cranking, renew seals, confirm adequate supply pressure from the lift pump, and bleed the system fully. Skipping any of these is where most comebacks originate. Our rebuild standard: strip to components, clean, measure against wear limits, replace what is worn, machine back to specification where required, then calibrate and bench-test every unit.
