WA100M-5 is supplied as a remanufactured replacement fuel injection pump. Cross-reference numbers: WA100M-5, 104641-7460. This pump has two jobs that are easy to conflate: raising fuel to injection pressure, and metering the correct quantity at the correct moment. Wear affects both. The result is usually a combination of harder starting, drifting timing and visible smoke rather than one clean fault. Look for extended cranking, especially hot, poor throttle response, smoke across the rev range, fluctuating idle speed, and a gradual rise in consumption that cannot be explained by duty cycle. Check supply pressure at the pump inlet and look for air in the clear line before assuming internal wear. Plenty of pumps get replaced for a blocked filter or a suction leak that costs a fraction to put right. Set timing to the engine’s marks and never lever the pump into place — bar the engine over instead. Prime thoroughly, use a new mounting seal, verify lift pump supply pressure, and bleed before starting. A dry start is the fastest way to ruin a sound pump. How we build it: the unit is fully disassembled, cleaned and measured, not simply resealed. Wear items — seals, springs, and where clearance is out of specification the plunger and barrel or nozzle assemblies — are replaced rather than reused. Sealing faces and bores are re-machined back to original clearances, then the unit is calibrated and run on a bench with delivery, return flow, opening pressure and leakage recorded.
